Vampire Diaries Season 2

A few weeks ago, we asked Paul Wesley whether Stefan would cross paths with Katherine (Nina Dobrev) in the season premiere of "Vampire Diaries," and he gave us this lovely teaser: "So, she tells me she loves me and then stabs me — what’s going on there?" That's what we wanted to know, and now we finally have *some* answers. The CW just released stills from the first episode, aka "The Return," which seem to indicate how it'll all go down.
In the first still, Stefan is standing in the woods with Katherine (the CW caption confirms it's her and not Elena) and looking at her intently. He seems to be grasping her arm, but we can't really tell if it's with affection or anger (we're gonna go with the latter).

Also, we're going to ignore the random candle in the middle of the woods (fire hazard!), because really we have no idea what that's about. Anyway, even without the confirmation, we were pretty confidant we were looking at Katherine, notice her skin tight jeans and curlier hair — so not Elena's style.
Speaking off Elena, she shows up to meet Stefan in the woods too, except by the time she arrives he's bleeding at the waist (after-effects of Katherine no doubt). They sit on the bench (notice her more casual jeans and straight hair), and he has his arm affectionately behind her back as she cleans his wound (now that's what you call love!). Oh, and that pesky candle is gone.
But that's not all! Stefan has no shortage of guests in the woods. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) also shows up (we're guessing before Katherine since Stefan's not bandaged up yet). From the looks of it, the two don't exchange much brotherly love -- perhaps this is when Damon fesses up that he has an interest in Elena?
Of course, this is "Vampire Diaries," not "Happenings In The Woods," and there's much more to be sorted out in Mystic Falls. Take for instance Tyler (Michael Trevino) — the poor guy lost his father in the season finale and crashed his car (although, he suspiciously walked away without a scratch). In the latest still, he's leaning over a desk that, which just happens to have a picture of his mom, dad and him, with a tense look on his face. Perhaps he's finally starting to realize that he inherited a supernatural gene?
