Located within Nyeri municipality, on the slopes of Mount Kenya lies the expansive Kimathi University college of technology. From Nyeri town it is approximately six kilometers along the Nyeri – Nyahururu highway. The university boasts of; the serene environment having an excellent view of the snowcapped Mount Kenya, a more than 700 hectares piece of land consisting of 350 acres of natural forest, a dairy farm, 300 acres of open space for expansion and a more than 350 acres of commercial coffee. Driven by a passion of having their very own middle level college to equip the region’s youth with entrepreneurial , business and technical expertise, the community started Kimathi Institute of Technology as a community college in 1972 admitting its first batch of students in 1978.
